Street Style Shots: Westfield Stratford City & Bricklane

With end of year parties getting closer by the day, it’s time to consider what you’ll be wearing to round off 2012 in style. PAUSE highlights three of the season’s hottest formal trends and more importantly, tips on how to put them together to make them work for you.

Thanks to Skyfall, this season brings a renewed appreciation of black tie and there is no better time than now to luxuriate in the sartorial elegance of a tuxedo. It doesn’t have to be Armani or Lanvin, but it should definitely be a flattering fit like this double breasted example from Reiss. Also check out M&S and Topman.

Velvet continues to be a key A/W12 trend – choose a blazer either in black or a chic midnight blue, like this one from ASOS. Although unabashedly sharp, the softness of velvet gives it an air of informality and works well whether paired with slim cut jeans or more formal trousers. Avoid over accessorising and let the jacket speak for itself.

Shirting this season is all about collar details and it’s difficult to go wrong with tab or slim collared white shirts. The shirt featured is from Mr Start‘s A/W12 collection or try Scandinavian brand Cos.
