While still actively under investigation for an alleged sexual assault, style maven Ian Connor has uploaded an image to his Instagram account of him appearing in a controversial advertisement for label OFF-WHITE.

The ad, which appears in the latest issue of i-D magazine, shows Connor standing on a pedestal with his hands and ankles bound together. A white female model stares up at him dressed in a long flowing denim skirt, which in this shot appears reminiscent of the billowing dresses worn by women during times of slavery in the United States.

Conor captioned the picture with “Shut The Fuck Up,” but Instagram users were quick to reply in response. One user, @jaeforte, commented, “Looks like a slave auction.”

OFF-WHITE founder and mastermind, Virgil Abloh, was certainly aware of the connotations of the shoot, but he has as yet left it open to interpretation.

Here are some of our favorite pieces from OFF-WHITE’s FW16 collection.

Being known, not only for his acting and musical talents, Jaden Smith is also known for his eccentric, gender bending style, as of recent, wearing dresses and Batman costumes to prom and KimYe’s wedding. Speaking during his interview with CR Men’s Book, Jaden Smith has revealed his plans to expand his stylistic ideas into a clothing and lifestyle brand called MSFTS, and explains how science and mathematics come into it.

Still, Jaden is adamant that it’s not just about clothing, and suggests that he is thinking about the bigger picture, declaring, “It’s about dressing a generation… I want my T-shirts to look like a mixture of Basquiat’s and Einstein’s personal notebooks.” Comprising his inaugural collection of graphic t-shirts, hoodies and hats inspired by school subjects including mathematics and science, the young designer’s new brand (or “family” as he calls it), is surely one to look out for this year.

The collection is due to launch in Dubai, which will be shortly followed by a Shanghai debut release of a recycled plastic-made collection later this year. Stay tuned for further updates, and look out for CR Men’s Book to release its first publication on September 10th.
