While the rumour mill has predicted this one for months, It’s been officially announced today that Hedi Slimane has stepped down as Creative Director of French fashion label Yves Saint Laurent.

François-Henri Pinault, chairman and chief executive officer of Kering commented;

“What Yves Saint Laurent has achieved over the past four years represents a unique chapter in the history of the house.”

No big surprise here, and it’s nice to hear of an amicable departure as opposed to Elbaz’s unpleasant exit from Lanvin last year. For now, all eyes turn to who Slimane’s successor might be… Antony Vaccarello of Versus Versace?
