Pharrell Teams Up with Spotify For Campaign Highlighting Black History

Black History is happening now.

Teaming up with streaming giant Spotify, Pharrell has been selected as the curator for the “Black History Is Happening Now” campaign which the streaming service runs yearly. This campaign by Spotify was put together as a means to celebrate and amplify the voices of Black artists creators and organisations.

This project will see Pharrell be the curator for playlists that will highlight his artists who have influenced him musically, as well as original video content where the N.E.R.D frontman talks about his views on what’s happening currently in society and within the culture. In the three videos from the campaign that have already been released, Pharrell speaks on his love for Black women and how he believes that Black women will save the world.

In the second video, he comments on how the current political climate in America helped his band N.E.R.D shape the narrative of their latest album and finally, in a video titled “Inspirations and Influences” he speaks on producers that inspire him.
