From the up and coming Chinese menswear designer Sean Suen, we saw an amazing approach within his previous SS13 collection. It consisted of sleek contemporary tailor cut pieces with kaleidoscope motifs of dark forest-like ink stains resembling a cultural influence from the Far East.
Suen continues his bold stride with a predominately bulky robust come back for his autumn/winter collection, again utilising graphic arts within fashion by giving extra attention to clean detail and examining the benefits of changing cuts and hemlines of traditional masculine garments.
For a fresh twist to the silhouette of a modernistic aristocrat, it’s a pleasure to witness long lengths in the line of coats work with shorten midriff cuts and cropped trousers as a main line factor.
The functional thickness pose the advantage and durability as winter-wear using exaggerated collar panels and button fastenings as line of subtle attraction. The certain star pick, out of Suen’s efforts is his heavy features of distinction; merging fabrics together to intensify the standards with properties of course/rough fibers verses the opposite selection of finer sleeker textures.
The collection has hints of the kaleidoscope shapes seen throughout the ss13 collection. What’s new is the glossy animal prints on edge of fitted blazers and unlike the monotone of black, greys and white from the last collection Suen welcomes colour blocking the entirety of the collection using black, light grey, blue and wine red.

HYPE will be releasing their black on black collection, exclusive only to Topman Oxford Circus London, online and in the general store.
