Demna Gvasalia was definitely fascinated with the architecture of clothes when designing Balenciaga’s Spring/Summer 2017 collection. Balenciaga’s collection was all about padded shoulders, interesting take on tailoring and effective oversized blazers. The designer said about the collection: ”I wanted to push it. I wanted a feel of formality, of perfection, to everything.”
We, at PAUSE, believe that Demna Gvasalia’s menswear debut for Balenciaga made blazers popular again. From the runway to the streets, the formal jacket has now hit the streets and become a street style piece to master in style. From boxy to an oversized silhouette, the blazer adds an edge to a look bringing street and smart wear together.
