Commun des Mortels are a sustainable men’s fashion start-up from Berlin that is 100% sweatshop free, focussing on price per wear, not price at the checkout. The co-founders saw a gap in the market, between mass brands that are cheap to the consumer but costly to both the environment and workers, and designer offerings with pricing few can afford. They wanted to give fashion-forward men ethical, sustainable, high-quality options with staying power.
The ‘Core Collection’ features three pieces – the Muscle T-Shirt available in ghost, concrete and asphalt, Oversized Raw-Edge Sweatshirt in concrete and optimist yellow as well as a Shadow Plaid Western Shirt in klein blue and asphalt.
They manufacture and source fabrics only from Europe and Japan, and are determined to persuade us all that choosing quality over quantity can actually save us money in the long run as well as reduce the harmful impact of our clothing.
