Having been documenting street style and youth subcultures in Tokyo since 1997, FRUiTS magazine gained a reputation for its portraits of Japan’s most stylish people before closing down in 2017.

American designer Marc Jacobs has decided to hire the founder of this iconic magazine, Shoichi Aoki, to shoot his latest lookbook for the brands “Heaven” collection. Including a cameo from Aoki himself, the lookbook is modelled and self-styled by icons and friends of the Marc Jacobs brand including the designer Yoon Ambush, skater Daisaku and founder of Facetasm Hiromichi.

Crafted by Ava Nirui who oversees special projects for the label and built a reputation through her high fashion bootlegs, the collection is an eclectic and lighthearted mix of colourful prints, oversized silhouettes and a two-headed teddy that is utilised to create a bag as well as bring printed on many of the garments. Overall, it is clothing that captures the subversive legacy of Marc Jacobs.
