A Touch of Class.
Since becoming creative director of LOEWE in 2013, Jonathan Anderson has consistently been making statements with his collections and campaigns with the Spanish luxury house, most recently creating an SS23′ Women’s collection filled with 8-bit and Trompe l’oeil references. For the Men’s collection this upcoming season, David Sims was in charge of the campaign where he referenced the work of British still-life and portrait painter William Nicholson (1872-1949) and the oeuvre of American photographer, George Platt Lynes (1907-1955), to create introspective imagery that would hold greater meaning when delving deeper beneath the surface.
Appointing Josh O’Connor and Stéphane Bak for the campaign, the two muses are just as integral to the campaign as the products highlighted – most notably the Amazona 15, the Puzzle and the Fold Shopper – in order to create an atmosphere that’s dreamy and subtly erotic. Experimentation of lighting is also crucial, showing viewers the unbothered rawness that not only reflects reality but also encourages interpretation.
