Vietnam born designer Peter Do has been unveiled as the new creative director of infamous New York label Helmut Lang.

The highly-regarded designer, who only recently started his own eponymous ‘Peter Do’ label back in 2018, has been unveiled as the latest designer to take on the role of creative director at Helmut Lang, with the 2014 LVMH Graduate Prize winner being well-known for his striking silhouettes, his use of subtle shaping and design details, as well as his affection for a black and white colour scheme. Often going viral for his intricate creations, this appointment looks set to get Helmut Lang back on track and into the mainstream, with Do set to take up his new role on May 15th and unveil his debut Spring/Summer 2024 collection during New York Fashion Week in September.

Discussing his appointment, Peter Do stated the following:

“No one embodied radical thinking more definitively than Helmut Lang. It is my deep honor to be entrusted with ushering in the next chapter of Helmut Lang’s legacy. I am excited to learn from the foundations this house stands on and to continue creating new, energetic clothes that inspire people to challenge their understanding of what is possible when it comes to expressing their individuality.”
