‘Deconstructing a Classic’.
Reminiscent of your battered kicks after a long day hitting the halfpipe, Axel Arigato’s new Area Patchwork sneaker is an ode to the effortlessly cool skater boy.
Like its muse who has pushed their shoes to the limit, the purposely raw prototype is defined by its deconstructed aesthetic as frayed trims, raw edges and cutting-knife impressions reaffirm its skate culture inspirations.
Combining an array of juxtaposing materials from Nappa leather and semi-hairy suede to recycled air mesh in reference to the DIY attitude of the skater community, the ‘90s-esque silhouette takes its design directly from the brand’s original Area model (and reverse engineers it).
The Area Patchwork is now available online via Axel Arigato’s website.
