ASICS & Wood Wood Champion Movement for New GT-1260 Release

Launching this Week.

ASICS’ runner stylings continue to dominate the sneaker space as the Japanese born sportswear brand hit their stride with Danish lifestyle outfit Wood Wood, putting forward a collaborative GT-1260 sneaker.

Taking inspiration from the early GT-2000 stylings seen in the 2010s, this latest dose of ASICS x Wood Wood sees a long-awaited follow-up to their previous 2017 release. For SS24′, the duo have reunited and taken the two colourways seen in their previous capsule – which were reimagined takes on ASICS’ DS-Trainer – and melded them into one sleek design, being a colourway that stays true to Wood Wood’s minimalist design ethos. First unveiled at Wood Wood’s AW24′ show during Copenhagen Fashion Week in January, this latest sneaker is underlined as a celebration of body and movement, with the Philip Messman shot campaign featuring a cast of ballet dancers and trampoline jumpers in all of their glory, intertwining both the ASICS brand messaging of “uplifting the mind through movement and visualising the contemporary lifestyle and the aesthetic of the Wood Wood universe.”

Looking to capture a distinct sense of serenity here, Wood Wood founder – Brian SS Jensen – stated the following about this upcoming ASICS collaboration:

“I see this as a continuation of the collaboration from 2017. Back then we did 2 colourways of the DS-Trainer, which were loosely inspired by the aesthe3cs of late ’90s media players and vintage Dieter Rams designed electronics respectively”.

The sneaker design itself sees several various tones of greige subtly intertwine themselves with small doses of colour, with shades of silky silver, earthy brown, and stark green subtly working their way across the pair. In a nod to the early GT-2000 stylings, this edition maintains the trainer’s iconic design language by utilising a streamlined shape, wavy forefoot sculpting, a segmented midsole structure, as well as GEL technology inserts.

The ASICS x Wood Wood GT-1260 will be available to shop globally on March 22nd via the ASICS and Wood Wood websites.
