PAUSE Picks: Top Sneaker Releases of the Week

SKEPTA x PUMA Forever

It’s time for Big Smoke to have his way as the UK music icon links back up with PUMA for their headline-grabbing “Forever” sneaker. The all-black pair pulls from a few different directions, with Skepta’s previous use of iridescent stylings coming through here as the pair reflect upon flash, adding a welcome sense of subtlety to this intricate pair. Utilising a similar shape to the Prada America’s Cup sneaker, the low-riding pair opt for a mixed mesh and TPU overlay composition with flashing doses of silver to accent and really make the pair pop.

Dingyun Zhang x adidas Samba

Keeping things dark, a monochromatic entry arrives in style here as Dingyun Zhang links with adidas for an adaptable take on the Samba. The long-time collaborators continue to push the boundaries of design as this stripped-back pair enter the fray, with an emphasis being placed on shape as overlapping puffy heel material contrasts with the shine of black patent lather on the upper as well as the blacked-out suede on the toe. Keeping it tonal, a black midsole stays true to the darkened colour palette. Black seems to be in for summer…

Nike x NOCTA Hot Step 2

Forget a rap beef, Drake is putting his foot on the necks of the sneaker industry as he continues to push his NOCTA x Nike Hot Step 2 silhouette. Going viral with a standout “Orange” iteration, NOCTA and Nike follow things up with a more neutral statement, as this robust pair debut in all-white and utilise a wavy upper style, silver metallic Nike adornments, as well as Nike’s G-Tek sole, which looks to reflect and imitate the hooves of a mountain goat. Who said Drake wasn’t winning?

A$AP ROCKY x PUMA Inhale OG

PUMA are firmly taking their chance as we head into SS24′, with another music-based collaboration coming to light in the form of this A$AP ROCKY x PUMA Inhale OG. Going way back into the archives, this pair and its style was hand-picked by Rocky himself, with the recently-appointed PUMA x F1 creative director looking to reflect his own style in doing so. A fire red gradient lines the sleek PUMA midfoot logo, being accented with flashes of red, black, and white to break up the uniformity of the pale yellow upper, whilst a wavy outsole inserts some true Rocky vision.
