Inspired by Sci-Fi Worlds.
Nigo and KENZO go to otherworldly lengths for this latest campaign, putting forward a striking set of imagery for its Pre-Fall 2024 collection.
Expanding his lens and playing on the predetermined sci-fi metaphors of the pre-collection, Nigo takes KENZO to new heights for this campaign as he follows on from the brand’s Fall/Winter 2024 runway show displayed back in January, re-framing the proposal in a lunar landscape grounded by the earthly waves of the sea. Bringing together a host of models for the cast, the sleek imagery was captured by Canary Islands-born photographer Lengua, whose work typically looks into and contests conventional depictions of nature.
“Chasing the sunset” around the world, meeting in-between the West and the East, and nodding to the scenes of the moon landing, Nigo’s create vision knows no bounds this season as an intergalactic feel rules over the campaign, with the garments themselves following suit. For instance, the plissé soleil dress takes centre stage alongside heritage workwear crafted in the classic KENZO Weave pattern – a direct nod to Japanese hakeshi baten fireman’s jackets – both of which instil a sense of rooted sensibility. Furthermore, cargo flight trousers unite with various essential t-shirts, all of which include standout graphics, ranging from a starry constellations pattern, the classic KENZO flower logo, as well as a KENZO Business ideogram of five briefcase-carrying men, which pays tribute to the merchandise of Japanese electronic band YMO.
