Sierra Leone.
Labrum took to York Village in Sierra Leone to shoot their Spring/Summer 2024 collection, photographing looks inspired by the strength of cultural identity and the threads that keep them together. The collection follows the same ethos as its Fall/Winter counterpart, honouring West African heritage and design cues.
Brand founder and creative director, Foday Dumbuya has been conceiving collections since 2014. Priding itself on its fusion of British tailoring with touches of West Africa, its innovative garments offer an uncompromising commitment to utility and quality. Their latest collection takes viewers through “a story of migration and movement. Representing hopes, dreams, and aspirations of those who boldly embody their culture.” Full body graphics adorn thick wool suits, styled with bare chests and fully buttoned custom details. Their double-breasted, zebra print suit has a batch of zippers sewn into the torso and sleeves for self-service air conditioning when the weather becomes unbearably hot. Red and blue ruffled dress shirts meet matching shorts, along with a baby blue dress shirt with a muted graphic depicting immigration papers.
Labrum’s Nomoli Odyssey collection is available for discovery at their Carnaby Street flagship store in London, along with the infamous Selfridges and Browns.
