A Mindblowing Show.
Rick Owens’ Spring/Summer 2025 menswear collection, presented today took everyone’s attention (literally), drawing inspiration from the glamorous yet gritty Pre-code Hollywood era, mixing art deco, lurid sin, and redeeming morality. Owens captured the spirit of this brief but influential period (1931-1934) before the Hays Code changed the face of cinema.
On the catwalk, Owens’ references came to life with models resembling Spartans marching into battle. They carried massive frames with other models perched on top, all under Rick’s unity flag billowing in the wind as his new insignia.
True to form, Owens’ show was filled with dramatic elements: flaming balls swung through the air, blazing funeral pyres, and exploding smoke grenades that released colorful plumes and petal-like confetti. But this time, Owens stripped back the set, choosing to focus on the strength of the cast itself to captivate the usually hard-to-impress fashion crowd.
In an unforgettable display, Owens proved that his creativity and vision could still blow away a jaded audience, relying on the sheer impact of his models and the powerful imagery they evoked.
