Decades after donning the iconic Superman sweater, Marc Jacobs is trading in kryptonite for cashmere. Marc Jacobs is celebrating its 40th anniversary with a series of reimagined archival pieces, the latest being a collaboration with renowned designer Nigo. The iconic Superman sweater, originally introduced in a 1990 menswear collection, has been given a luxurious update.

The partnership between Jacobs and Nigo is a meeting of two worlds: the visionary fashion house and the urban streetwear pioneer. The result is a contemporary interpretation of the classic piece, blending nostalgia with avant-garde aesthetics. Crafted from a sumptuous blend of alpaca and wool, the sweater retains the original vibrant blue hue while offering an elevated, opulent feel. The signature Superman shield remains prominently displayed on the front, complemented by Marc Jacobs lettering on the back, a nod to the sweater’s heritage.

This collaboration marks a reunion for Jacobs and Nigo, whose previous partnership resulted in the iconic Millionaire sunglasses for Louis Vuitton in 2005, in collaboration with Pharrell Williams. The Superman sweater joins other reimagined classics in the anniversary collection, such as the 1985 Smiley Sweater in collaboration with Cactus Plant Flea Market.
