Infinity and beyond.
After a good three years in the making, TELFAR have finally unveiled their latest wheeze: the INFINITY collection. This lengthy development wasn’t without reason; to get this off the ground, the brand took on the rather ambitious job of setting up their own atelier. What’s more, showing it off properly meant building a dedicated telly studio, and being able to connect directly with their lot led to opening a proper shop. Now, kitted out with all that, TELFAR are set to just crack on with their creative vision, endlessly. The name “INFINITY” is also well tied in with how the clobber’s put together. It’s a proper think about the T-shirt, you see, shown through these continuous ribbons of jersey rib and sweat fabric that artfully criss-cross the body in a series of infinity symbols, creating unique details and even forming handy pockets and stirrups. Adding to the collection’s distinctiveness are graphics that bring to mind the playful look of those Canal Street tourist bits and bobs, deliberately a bit off-kilter.
Layered on top are modular ribbed halters and vests, made for wearing every which way and featuring rather striking half-and-half ombré effects. Perhaps the most talked-about piece is the rather unexpected “tank-skirt” – a vest top cleverly worn on the legs, right between them, and upside down, showing TELFAR are still keen on shaking up how we think about clothes. Knowing that T-shirts and jeans are a classic pairing, INFINITY introduces a collection of STRETCH unisex-denim made to fit pretty much everyone. This first drop is just the start of INFINITY, with new categories planned monthly, going on indefinitely, only available through their shop at 408 Broadway and on TELFAR.net.
