PAUSE Picks: Top Sneaker Releases of the Week

The many variations of what a “runner” sneaker is continue to flow through the sneaker world, with this new collaborative AURALEE x New Balance 475 bringing forth some 80s brilliance. The summer-ready stepper embraces the wear and tear of the sunny season by taking inspiration from the classic 1980s running style that the 475 is known for, with a standout “Vintage Yellow” iteration utilising a sun-faded, time-worn colour reminiscent of vintage sneakers. There’s no stopping the Cecilie Bahnsen x ASICS link-up, is there? The longstanding duo are back it again to pinch some pennies out of our pockets, but we’re not complaining. This pair of Gel-Kayano 20 “Floral Silver Sails” hit the nail on the head, going big with Bahnsen’s signature flower motif across the base, whilst silver Tiger Stripes and flowery lace charms instil a modern sense of femininity to the pair. You’re going to be seeing these (a lot).

At this point, whenever New Balance make a loafer we have to pay attention. The 1906L continues to rule the roost of sneaker-cum-loafer crossovers, with this “Raincloud” iteration ticking all the boxes.

The “Ballet” Crocs can’t hurt you… but they’re most definitely real. As expected, Crocs step into the fold with a new “Ballet-core” entry, with this newly-introduced EXP Terre Ballet in “Gunmetal Black” bringing a bit of masculine edge to the silhouette. Might have to practice our twirling…

Adding a bit of essential colour into the mix, the Nike Air Max Dn8 “Volt Green Strike” could be the breakthrough the Dn8 has been waiting for. We can see this pair’s future, and it involves a lot of Brazilian football shirts…
