IED Barcelona’s Class of 2025 Takes Centre Stage at Palau Reial

A standout evening of creativity and craftsmanship brimming with new-school designers.

Beneath the stately grandeur of Barcelona’s Palau Reial de Pedralbes, IED Barcelona hosted the 21st edition of “Fashioners of the World” last night, spotlighting 25 exceptional graduate collections from its 2025 cohort. With an audience of industry leaders, press and creative institutions in attendance, the show marked a defining moment for a new wave of talent.

Each collection combined conceptual depth with technical finesse, garnering praise for its fusion of sustainability, innovation and storytelling. An international jury awarded five prizes, recognising collections that not only stood out aesthetically but also carried cultural and emotional weight.

Laia Ripoll received the “Franca Sozzani Award for YHÖ, a womenswear collection confronting the tension between past wounds and liberation. Combining delicate fabrics, safety pins, and sculptural silhouettes, her work was described as “cohesive, creative and courageous.”

Other winners included Anna Guitart, whose fashion film “Morriña explored family heritage through a genderless lens; Julia R. Heine, whose illustrations brought a witty duality to 1950s-inspired sportswear; and Martina Mayol, recipient of the ‘IEDxCommons Impact Award’, whose minimalist “Auster” collection paid homage to Catalan heritage using regenerative cotton and zero chemical dyes. A win for sustainability.

Special mentions were also awarded for originality and craftsmanship, reinforcing the calibre of talent across the board. With thoughtful messages stitched into every seam, this graduating class proved that fashion’s future is not only innovative, but deeply intentional.
