A Giant Memorial.

Mark your calendars: “Virgil Abloh: The Codes” is set to open at the Grand Palais in Paris this September. Running from 30th September to 10th October 2025, this will be the first major European exhibition dedicated to the visionary designer’s work. Presented by the Virgil Abloh Archives in partnership with Nike, the retrospective will delve into two decades of Abloh’s multidisciplinary career, showcasing approximately 20,000 archival pieces. Visitors can expect to see a wide array of objects, prototypes, sketches, and images from his professional endeavours, as well as items from his personal collection and library. The exhibition aims to highlight Abloh’s significant impact on fashion, particularly in streetwear, and explore the codes that defined his work across various fields like clothing, footwear, architecture, music, and advertising, including his notable collaborations with figures such as A$AP Rocky, Takashi Murakami, and Serena Williams.

Beyond the  display of unique and iconic pieces, “Virgil Abloh: The Codes” will also feature publications and a public programme of talks, workshops, performances, and screenings, offering deeper insights into the themes that shaped Abloh’s creative output. Shannon Abloh, founder and chairwoman of the Virgil Abloh Foundation, emphasised the exhibition’s role in sharing Virgil’s enduring legacy and principles. She stated that by showcasing his personal collection and major works, the exhibition serves as an exceptional way to celebrate his commitment to accessible and collaborative information, ensuring he continues to inspire as a beacon of creative knowledge.
