Landing in Big.
In the heart of Tokyo’s upscale Aoyama district, Acne Studios has unveiled a stunning new three-storey flagship that redefines the retail experience. Designed in collaboration with Stockholm-based architecture studio Halleroed and the brand’s creative director Jonny Johansson, the store draws inspiration from the city’s layered urban landscape. Inside, brutalist design meets refined minimalism, with signature pink granite used throughout the interior, alongside sculptural seating by Max Lamb and expressive mannequins crafted by British artist Daniel Silver. The space invites visitors into a tactile and visually rich environment that blurs the line between fashion, art, and architecture.
The flagship presents the full breadth of Acne Studios’ collections: menswear, womenswear, accessories, footwear, and eyewear; all showcased in a carefully curated, gallery-like setting. Enhancing its artistic appeal, the store features a collaboration with renowned Japanese ceramicist Takuro Kuwata, whose vibrant ceramic works are displayed alongside an exclusive capsule collection designed specifically for this opening. Custom lighting by Benoit Lalloz adds rhythm and atmosphere throughout the space. Situated directly opposite the iconic Prada Aoyama store, this launch marks a significant milestone for Acne Studios, further strengthening its creative and cultural ties with Japan.
This expansion in Tokyo arrives hot on the heels of an equally compelling move in Paris: the launch of Acne Paper Palais Royal, the brand’s first permanent art gallery, which opened on 26 June 2025 beneath the historic arcades of the Palais Royal.
