From the Beach to the Bar: Transitional Style Tips

Have Your Cake and Eat it Too.

All of the obscenely hot weather aside, this is the best time of the year. The sun is shining, smiles are growing ear to ear, and so is your desire to go spend some time lounging on the beach. The issue, often times, of being on a beach holiday is that your swimming or relaxing fit isn’t conducive to the expensive dinner or fun time at the bar that you’re hoping to experience later on.

However, this season, a multitude of brands showing during the Spring/Summer 2026 calendar have given us a few quick tips on how to get this done. Although not very keen on shorts, Veronique Nichanian showed a menswear collection dedicated to an alternative selection of footwear. I’d go as far as to say it’s bringing back a childhood classic.

Prada and 3.Paradis did the same, but in different ways. Prada’s no-ethos show had us gawking at the skin being shown, most likely making a lot of men feel the urge to get under a squat rack to achieve the same runway looks. On the 3.Paradis side, a multitude of summer layering was being ushered down the runway, in a way that got us thinking.

Below, you can find four of PAUSE’s best tips on how to transition from the beach to the bar in the most fashionable way. Taking cues from the seasonal offerings from the last few months, this is your unequivocal guide to looking fly while getting a tan this summer.

Join in on Thigh Guy Summer.

We’re living and shopping in a fashion world absent of cores. But this summer, the closest thing we’re going to get is the thigh guy trend. A lot of TikTok fashion trends rely on baggy jeans, usually 9 or 7-inch inseams that fall at or below the knee. However, a slew of luxury labels were showing shorts at the 5-inch or less inseam length. Jumping on the short shorts trend will allow you to get a tan and feel as cool as you possibly can before moving in a trendy outfit at the bar.

Layers are Actually your Friend.

Wearing a vest underneath your linen dress shirt or graphic bowling shirt might seem redundant. However, it’ll save you from sweat lines while relaxing on the beach, and in reality, allow you to keep your bar shirt safe. You can quite easily take off the top layer, sweat and tan in the vest, before chucking your shirt over top or taking off the vest completely. Admittedly, you’re going to feel sticky anyway, so you might as well put on a whole fresh layer for dinner instead of relaxing solely in the shirt you’ll be donning at the bar.

Ditch the Foam Flip-Flops for leather.

If Auralee taught us anything, it’s that flip-flops are going to be the footwear for the summer. The Japanese menswear brand walked a few looks down the runway featuring leather and suede flip flops. Even onlookers, like GQ’s Sam Hine, were sporting flip-flops ahead of the show. Going for a pair of flip-flops that aren’t made of plastic and foam is going to allow you to let your feet be free on the beach, before looking snazzy at the bar.

Big Bag for Big Wardrobe Changes.

Recognising the fact that you need a big bag for a beach getaway is crucial. Sure, you need it for your sunscreen, towels, and things of that nature. But a massive bag could be your best friend when it comes to a quick wardrobe change. If you’d rather bring a whole separate outfit to the beach so you can change ahead of the bar, all power to you. A big bag is going to be necessary for you to pack up that second outfit, even if you want a simple change of bottoms.
