All For a Good Cause!
In a move that only The Rick Owens could pull, he has unveiled his latest twist on self-mythology: launching an OnlyFans dedicated entirely to his feet — yes, right in the middle of his exhibition opening party.
The party marked the launch of “Temple of Love,” his new retrospective at Paris’ Palais Galliera, which opened directly after his SS26 runway show of the same name. The exhibition is a full-on Rick experience: rare archival pieces, old mood boards, obscure references and, naturally, a life-size statue of the man himself mid-stream, having a wee. Because, of course.
Then, amid the chaos, Owens announced his next act: a subscription-based exploration of vanity, aging, and self-display through close-ups of his feet. He says he was inspired by the Countess of Castiglione, a 19th-century aristocrat who, after being endlessly photographed, aged out of the frame and turned the lens on her feet instead. “This is all about my own negotiations with self-display, vanity, and ageing,” Rick explained, in typically cryptic fashion.
As of today, the account is live; he also soft-launched it on his Instagram story. All subscription proceeds will go to the Allanah Foundation (a non-profit set up by Allanah Starr to support scholarships and mentorships for emerging artists from marginalised communities).
Of course Rick’s feet are now part of the cultural archive. What else did you expect?
