Pairing up for the second instalment of their ‘O.G. with a Twist’ series, adidas and BSTN – the renowned streetwear retailer – continue to honour icons of the sneaker world with a contemporary reimagining of the sportswear giant’s classic silhouette: the Handball Spezial.
Fronted by legendary Italian footballer Alessandro Del Piero – bringing his iconic on-pitch elegance to sneakers – the duo’s sophomore drop features two iterations of the fan-favourite model, fusing timeless sophistication with a distinct European sensibility.
Brought to life through a playful, tongue-in-cheek campaign, the launch film sees Alessandro take a call from Duki, BSTN’s founder, while his so-called assistant – played by actor Kailas Mahadevan – relays his over-the-top demands for the collab: a private jet, fifty alpacas, and a pink yacht complete with a football pitch.
The sneaker stays true to its original design DNA, boasting a supple premium leather upper with bespoke curved overlays – a first for the model. Offered in two monochrome colourways, off-white and all-black, each pair is accented with a burst of colour on the tongue via a co-branded patch, serving as a subtle nod to the release’s Mediterranean inspiration.
The adidas x BSTN Handball Spezial ‘O.G. with a Twist’ lands Saturday 16th August, exclusively at BSTN.
