Jacquemus and Veuve Clicquot’s Picnic on the Water

Beyond designing clothing, accessories, and homeware, Simon Porte Jacquemus now introduces his very own reinterpretation of La Grande Dame 2018, in partnership with the historic Champagne House Veuve Clicquot.

Inspired by Madame Clicquot – la grande dame de la Champagne – and by Simon’s lifelong muse, his mother, the design shines in the instantly recognisable Veuve Clicquot Yellow and pays tribute to both artisanal tradition and feminine strength. “La Grande Dame 2018 is the outcome of simple materials, meaningful gestures, and strong women’s stories, yet it is ultimately a celebration of – and for – optimistic and memorable moments,” notes Simon Porte Jacquemus.

To mark the launch, the two Houses gathered a circle of friends – including Julia Roberts, Emma Roberts, Solange Knowles, and Toby Wallace – at the Central Park Boathouse on the eve of New York Fashion Week. Entitled Le Pique-Nique Sur L’Eau – “the picnic on the water” – the evening featured a Carnegie Hall performance on Central Park Lake before guests dined at the Boathouse under Veuve Clicquot’s signature yellow, enjoying dishes by chef Alexia Duchêne.

Until 14 September, New Yorkers and visitors can enjoy their own “Le Pique-Nique Sur L’Eau” at the Central Park Boathouse with free boat rides.
