Beauty Artist Anastasia Lazarenko: “Brides are More Demanding Than Top Models”

By November 23, 2025Guest Post

The American beauty market is one of the largest in the world. Consequently, competition in it is incredibly high. Beauty Artist Anastasia Lazarenko managed to break through among thousands of other specialists, and today she helps others break through.

Anastasia teaches the art of makeup and works as a leading Beauty Artist. This profession differs from, for example, that of a makeup artist.

“I am a certified Beauty Artist. Specifically, a Beauty Artist, not a makeup artist. This is important because a makeup artist applies makeup, while a Beauty Artist creates an entire look. My work is more complex and requires more skills,” says Anastasia.

Today, she owns her own business in the beauty industry, develops her makeup team, and is the lead Beauty Artist at Studio One Wedding Team. Her workday starts early. Preparing for a celebration is a big responsibility, so sometimes she has to get up at 4 a.m. “You won’t believe it, but brides are much more demanding than even top models,” says Anastasia.

In addition to preparing brides, Anastasia creates images for Olympic champions, bloggers, and artists. She considers her work with karate legend and Olympic champion Anzhelika Terliuga to be one of the most memorable projects of her career. Anastasia also participated in the opening of a new wedding venue in Seattle, where she was invited as the official beauty vendor. This was an important step in her integration into the professional environment here in the US.

“I’ve worked with so many people. I think I’ve created over a thousand images throughout my career. Among other things, I’ve created images for models and finalists of the Top Model project, participated in fashion shows, including Odessa Fashion Day projects, and collaborated with Estée Lauder,” says Anastasia.

Sometimes Anastasia gets regular clients who come to her to get ready for a party, a photo shoot, or just for a new experience. Anastasia shared with us that this year’s most popular requests include matte eye makeup, berry-colored lipstick, and glowing skin (yes, it’s still on trend). Next season is expected to see a return to the aesthetics of the 2000s.

“Overall, the trend right now is toward personalization. I like that I’m hearing more and more requests for deeper work with image. As a Beauty Artist, I find such challenges much more interesting,” she says.

Anastasia not only creates images, but also actively participates in professional industry events. She is a licensed judge at beauty championships, including The European Beauty Awards. In addition, she is often invited to speak at beauty events.

Anastasia is also a winner of the International Beauty Industry Awards. In 2025, she became a finalist in the “Full Face” category and a semifinalist in the “Eye” category. Additionally, in 2025 she was nominated for- and won – two categories at the IBA Beauty Awards, an international award: Top Beauty Artist and Top Makeup Trainer.

The work of a Beauty Artist can hardly be called boring, because such specialists are always on the move and solve a wide variety of tasks. To work professionally, a Beauty Artist needs important hard skills: knowledge of makeup techniques, understanding of color, and the ability to select textures for different skin types. Good hygiene is equally important — it is a basic standard for working with clients. The ability to quickly adapt to any situation is also valued. It should not be forgotten that the work of a Beauty Artist requires a great deal of responsibility. Clients vary, and you have to learn to find common ground with everyone.

Having earned the status of one of the most prominent figures of the new wave in the beauty industry, Anastasia moved on to training and became a mentor for future Beauty Artists. She conceived and launched a training course that is radically different from anything else that has ever been on the market. The main advantage of the course is its logic.

“Makeup is a skill that needs to be practiced, and once you understand the logic behind it, you won’t feel nervous or unsure about whether you can do a certain type of makeup. I also teach how to do different types of makeup quickly. Speed is an important competitive advantage. Taking into account my artistic education, I have also developed my own method of teaching how to work with color,” Anastasia shares.

This original training program is based on a combination of three things. First, it is a European makeup school. Anastasia studied at one of the strongest schools in Eastern Europe, a region that has become a global center for progressive makeup techniques in recent years. Second, it is Anastasia’s artistic education, which also forms the basis of her technique. And finally, the third and perhaps most important thing is that she teaches how to work with different types of appearances, which is very relevant in the US.

“Every Beauty Artist has to deal with a wide variety of appearances. Unfortunately, not everyone is prepared for this. I help them solve this problem and work easily in any salon in the country with any client,” says Anastasia.

To expand her influence, Anastasia joined several prominent organizations, such as the International Association of Beauty Artists and the Association of Beauty Professionals. These associations are quite significant: the latter, for example, includes leading figures in the beauty business – cosmetologist Dr. Barbara Sturm, model Irina Shayk, and influencer Chiara Ferragni. Anastasia is the official brand trainer for the second association. Together with them, Anastasia is shaping the future of the beauty industry.

As for her plans for the future, Anastasia already knows exactly what she will do.

“I plan to expand the educational program, develop international judging, participate in new projects, and develop my makeup team with the most talented Beauty Artists. I want to combine my experience working in Europe and the US and take training to a new level, accessible to professionals around the world,” she concludes.
