Olivier Rousteing exits Balmain.
BREAKING NEWS! Balmain has announced the departure of Olivier Rousteing as creative director after 14 years at the helm, ending one of the longest and most influential tenures in modern fashion.
“I am deeply proud of all that I’ve accomplished, and profoundly grateful to my exceptional team at Balmain, my chosen family, in a place that has been my home for the past 14 years,” Rousteing shared within a statement. “As I look ahead to the future and the next chapter of my creative journey, I will always hold this treasured time close to my heart.”
Appointed at just 25 years old in 2011, Rousteing became the youngest non-founding designer to lead a major Parisian house since Yves Saint Laurent at Dior, and the first Black creative director of a French heritage brand. Rousteing’s exit marks the end of an era but as he steps away from Balmain, one question lingers, what will Olivier Rousteing’s next act look like?
