Vivere all’Italiana: Experience Italy with Gran Meliá

By December 22, 2025Hotels & Stays, LIFESTYLE

Discover Italy through two iconic cities, bespoke experiences and Gran Meliá’s most celebrated properties!

Italy continues to hold a unique position in global travel. Welcoming over 60 million international visitors each year, with 2025 marking one of its highest tourism peaks due partly to the Jubilee celebrations, it remains one of the most visited countries in the world, drawing travellers in with its timeless traditions and lifestyle.

Often referred to as Il Bel Paese (The Beautiful Country), Italy’s appeal goes far beyond its landmarks and instead is found in its many layers, diversity and contrasts. Each city tells a completely different story, shaped by centuries of art, politics and culture, and today further defined by fashion, hospitality and contemporary living. Nowhere is this contrast more apparent than between Milan and Rome.

As two of Italy’s most popular and influential cities, Milan and Rome offer distinctive experiences through very different lenses of the Italian story, embodying this cultural duality. Milan, recognised as one of the world’s fashion capitals, is modern, fast-paced and driven by innovation and international influence. Rome, on the other hand, is deeply rooted in ancient history. It’s a living museum, immersive and picturesque, where centuries of history continue to shape daily life.

Together, these two cities offer a compelling and captivating insight into Italy. Gran Meliá’s newly introduced twin city package, Vivere all’Italiana, brings Milan and Rome together through a carefully curated luxury journey, combining two of their most talked-about properties in the country with personalised experiences designed to celebrate Italian style, uncover its heritage and experience its way of life.

Milan: Palazzo Cordusio

The journey begins in Milan at Palazzo Cordusio, a Gran Meliá Hotel and member of the Leading Hotels of the World, which opened in December 2023 in the heart of the city. Overlooking the historic Piazza Cordusio and just a stone’s throw away from the Duomo and the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, the hotel occupies a restored late 19th-century headquarters and today stands as one of Milan’s most luxurious hotels.

Palazzo Cordusio is the epitome of architectural grandeur and contemporary Italian sophistication. Rooms and suites provide the perfect retreat from the city’s hustle and bustle. High ceilings, mango wood paneling, marble finishes, chic furnishings and freestanding bathtubs create a sense of modern elegance that’s stylish yet cosy.

The hotel features three restaurants, offering a range of cuisines, alongside a rooftop lounge with city views and a spa that’s ideal for unwinding after a day exploring.

As part of the Vivere all’Italiana package, guests can select exclusive experiences such as ‘Get Ready with Chanel’, a bespoke in-room skincare and make-up service led by a Chanel expert, or a Swarovski Workshop at the brand’s flagship store.

Rome: Villa Agrippina

From Milan, Rome is easily reached via high-speed train in just over three hours, leaving behind modern city vibes and entering the county’s most iconic and historic region.

Villa Agrippina, a Gran Meliá Hotel recognised and recommended in the Michelin guide, sits remotely on the banks of the Tiber, within a short distance of Vatican City and St Peter’s Basilica. Despite its prime location, the hotel feels secluded, surrounded by lush Mediterranean gardens, which is rare for a centrally located hotel in Rome.

A sense of history can be seen and felt throughout the hotel’s design with rooms and suites featuring Roman mural walls, classic furnishings and some with private terraces overlooking the property’s gardens.

Villa Agrippina features 2 restaurants offering Italian flavours and Spanish Tapas, a Clarin’s wellness facility, as well as a signature outdoor pool.

Here, experiences exclusive to the Vivere all’Italiana package are designed to immerse guests in Roman history and culture. From private Vatican City tours to wine tasting workshops, each experience invites visitors to enjoy informative yet memorable encounters.
