Farewell Valentino.
Italian fashion icon Valentino Garavani has died aged 93, his foundation confirmed on Monday. The legendary designer passed away peacefully at his home in Rome, surrounded by loved ones, according to a statement from the Valentino Garavani and Giancarlo Giammetti Foundation.
A towering figure in post-war couture, Valentino built a global empire defined by elegance, craftsmanship and his signature shade of red. Together with business partner Giancarlo Giammetti, he shaped one of the most influential luxury houses of the 20th century, dressing royalty, Hollywood stars and generations of international clients.
A public lying-in-state will be held on Wednesday 21st January and Thursday 22nd January at the PM23 space on Piazza Mignanelli in Rome, from 11am-6pm. The funeral is scheduled for Friday 23rd January at 11:00am. at the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri in Piazza della Repubblica, marking a final farewell to one of fashion’s most enduring visionaries.
Valentino Garavani leaves behind a legacy of timeless beauty, impeccable craftsmanship and an enduring vision of elegance that will continue to shape the language of fashion for generations to come.
