Burberry Honours 170 Years of Outdoor Legacy with Gabardine Capsule

By January 7, 2026FASHION NEWS

Marking 170 years with a weather-ready collection.

For its latest venture, Burberry is celebrating the fabric that defined its legacy with the launch of its new “Gabardine Capsule” – highlighted through a cinematic film shot in the dramatic landscapes of Snowdonia, Wales.

For Burberry, innovation has long been embedded in the house’s identity, and gabardine, (invented by Thomas Burberry in 1879), remains one of fashion’s most revolutionary materials, trusted for nearly 150 years for its weatherproof resilience, whether that’s in polar expeditions to rainy London streets.

Throughout the campaign, the film features explorers Connaire Cann, Jesse Grylls and Marlon Patrice alongside models Iris Lasnet and Zhuó Chen capturing the raw beauty of the British countryside and the unpredictable elements gabardine was built to withstand. The capsule itself pays tribute to Burberry’s outdoor heritage, offering protective outerwear crafted in the signature fabric alongside knitwear and layered cotton jersey pieces designed for modern explorers.

In a world where the elements are ever-shifting, Burberry continues to cement its legacy in weather-ready design. Discover snippets from the collection below.
