Copenhagen, a relaxed city shaped by water, with colourful Nyhavn harbour and canals that run through neighbourhoods where historic façades form part of everyday life. Known for its aesthetics and picturesque moments, the city’s architecture remains a pivotal part of that experience. Areas like Frederiksstaden display Copenhagen’s classical foundations, defined by symmetry, proportion and craft, yet they feel lived in and current. The city has a way of allowing old charm and modernity to exist in syntony, where contemporary design respects what came before without feeling restrained by it.

That same balance can be recognised throughout the city’s boutique hotel scene. The most compelling stays here embody a sense of quiet luxury, avoiding spectacle and instead focusing on ambience, intimacy and hospitality. Hotels in Copenhagen are often treated as private addresses rather than destinations, providing spaces that encourage guests to slow down and adapt to the city’s slow-living lifestyle. It’s within this context that Four Suites Copenhagen takes shape.

Four Suites, Frederiksstaden Newest Opening

Set inside a townhouse in the heart of the historic Frederiksstaden district, a short distance from the King’s castle, Four Suites Copenhagen is one of the city’s newest hospitality concepts, opening its doors in November 2025. Located at Bredgade 56, the address alone carries a presence. The building dates back to 1869 and has housed artists, academics and cultural figures over the years, lending the stay an inherent sense of character. Rather than positioning itself as a traditional hotel, Four Suites leans into the idea of a private apartment experience, elevated by the refinement and care of an intimate boutique stay. It is designed for guests who want to feel embedded in the city.

Inside, the interiors reflect Frederiksstaden’s architectural character through warm palettes, Danish artistry and layered materials. The overall expression feels calm and contemporary. Rococo details and classicist references appear subtly, alongside understated modern design. There’s a quiet elegance to the spaces, where everything feels considered and unforced.

The ambience encourages guests to lean towards mindfulness and relaxation. Light is soft, textiles are tactile and shelves are lined with handpicked books rather than decorative fillers. The result feels lived in and closely connected to its surroundings, creating spaces designed for lingering rather than passing through.

Inside the 4 Suites

True to its name, Four Suites Copenhagen consists of just 4 suites, each designed not as a hotel room but as an elegant apartment. Each suite has its own character, current in design with selected vintage pieces, with a private kitchen and living room as part of the layout. While the look shifts from space to space, the aesthetic remains consistent throughout. These are suites designed to be lived in, acting as a home away from home while still offering the ease and luxury of hotel-style service. The overall collection feels personalised rather than standardised.

Bespoke furniture, architectural lighting and curated artworks add to each suite’s individual identity, while the bedrooms are designed with restfulness in mind. Bathrooms follow suit, finished with spa-like touches that prioritise comfort. Larger layouts create a sense of grandeur and ease, setting the suites apart from a conventional hotel room. These suites act as havens not only for sleeping, but for lounging and dining too, making them particularly suited to longer stays.

Service at Four Suites is thoughtful and flexible. Without the framework of a traditional hotel, or even a standard aparthotel, and while offering complete privacy, the experience feels extremely luxurious and tailored. Guests have access to concierge support, an in-suite personal chef and dining, wellness experiences and a level of discretion that’s increasingly rare. The approach is scalable, shaped entirely around individual preference.

“We wanted to create a place where guests feel at home in Copenhagen from the very first moment, while still appreciating the care and quiet luxury of an intimate boutique hotel” says Jonas Duus-Larsen, CEO of Four Suites Copenhagen.

These additional services add to the many reasons why Four Suites stands out within the region. It’s the kind of place where details are handled quietly, allowing you to focus on the city outside your door.

Why Four Suites?

Four Suites Copenhagen feels best suited to travellers who value atmosphere, space and discretion over spectacle. Developed with a clear respect for the building’s heritage and a modern understanding of how people want to stay, it offers something different and refreshing within the city’s boutique scene.

For those looking to experience Copenhagen at a slower pace, with the comfort of a private apartment and thoughtful hospitality, Four Suites provides an experience that feels calm, considered and quietly luxurious.
