John Galliano Joins Zara For a Two-Year Creative Partnership

By March 17, 2026FASHION NEWS

An unexpected turn.

John Galliano is back in business, and not where you’d expect? The designer has entered a two-year creative partnership with Zara, aiming to “re-author” the brand’s archives through a series of seasonal collections.

Following his departure from Maison Margiela last year, speculation around Galliano’s next move pointed to houses like Alaïa or Versace. Instead, he’s landed at the world’s largest fashion retailer, an unexpected but intriguing pivot.

Calling the project “fun” and creatively sustainable, Galliano will dive into Zara’s back catalogue, deconstructing and reworking past-season pieces into new collections. The approach leans into couture-like thinking, treating archive as material rather than mere reference.

The first drop is set for September 2026, signalling a bold crossover between fast fashion and high-concept design, where speed meets authorship in a way few saw coming. Thoughts on this move?
