Dolce & Gabbana has announced that Stefano Gabbana resigned from the role of chairman. He has left the post after having co-founded the brand with Domenico Dolce four decades ago. Company reports show that he filed for resignation back in December with it taking effect on the 1st of January. Gabbana was replaced with Alfonso Dolce who is Dolce & Gabbana’s CEO and Dolce’s brother.
The house stated that the resignation is “part of a natural evolution of its organisational structure and governance”. Additionally, they confirmed that Gabbana will continue to assist Dolce in the creative aspect of the business.
Dolce & Gabbana, along with the entire luxury sector, has been having financial troubles heightened by the geopolitical uncertainity. Gabbana is believed to be considering options for his 40% stake in the brand.
