Titled “The Inventive Self”, SHUSHU/TONG’s Fall 2026 collection centres around a 1930’s Parisian, working-class woman bound by societal and family constrains – referencing the film Violette Nozière. Through reconstructed silhouettes, she claims ownership over her own identity.
With similarities to their Spring collection, the theme of Girlish tension is weaved into their Fall offerings. In almost a centennial paradox, elegant silhouettes of the 1930’s are re-imagined for a contemporary woman. Drop-waist dresses are accentuated with knotted shoulders, undulating trims, and bow detailing that appears throughout the collection. Three-dimensional florals help to preserve a girlish attitude in the act of self-styling while adding a slightly theatrical element. A delicate fusion between sweetness and order is presented through the lace and sailor collars.
In reference to Violette herself, brimmed-hat-inspired headbands prevail as the main accessory of the season. Colour-blocked, suede loafers and upturned bow-detail heels demonstrate the rearranging of dated girlish codes.
