Based in Los Angeles and formed in 2009, Rook Brand was created under the knowledge of veteran graphic artists and childhood friends Jon Garcia and Joe King.
“In the Belly of the Beast” Fall 2013 collection represents the challenges faced while on the journey from conception to completion and although it is “no easy task”, the brand will never settle for “anything short of excellence.” This season is a huge expansion on the previous, with a blend of new graphic tees, premium fleece, accessories and their newest cut and sew category; seeing the creation of some brilliant pieces. This collection see’s L.A fashion photographer and style icon Adri Law guest photograph the collection and Adri explains that her intention of the lookbook was to “feel casual with somewhat of a tomboy look” and “maintain that L.A./California vibe.” This is certainly perceived in the photos with a really refreshing collection of shots.
Rook Brand’s strive for excellence means their hand-drawn graphics are incredibly detailed, whilst giving-off an edgy-punk feel, a norm to the brand’s street heritage and different direction that Rook Brand takes. Their new cut and sew garments infuses both brand identity and print. Although the print is stand-out, it is used controllably, showing the brand’s knowledge and its understanding of how to use all-over print the right way.
“In the Belly of the Beast” Fall 2013 is an exciting collection from Rook Brand and they have recently dropped part one of Fall 2013, with future drops coming soon, something we are certainly looking forward to in the coming weeks.

With NottingHill Carnival at the end of this week, everyone is working up a sweat to find something nice to wear for the biggest and best party of the year. It’s never easy but the PAUSE team are here to save the stress and fete fiasco. We’ve managed to grab some of the better pieces for you to if not find an outfit then grab some inspiration for the correct carnival attire.
1. Cos Raglan Sleeve T-Shirt – £25
With an oversized rather than fitted tee your automatically less night out and more street party ready. So buying in two or three sizes too big is a suitable option. Raglan is also looking to make a comeback.
2. Urban Outfitters Vintage Raw Cut Levi Shorts – £35
The heavier the distress and the rougher the rips the better. Carnival is the time for you to get down and dirty and wreck a bit of havoc. Why not let your outfit reflect that?
3. Patrick Ewing 33 Hi Trainer – £109.99
Hi-Tops are the wiser choice for carnival with a lot of broken glass around. These Ewings are even conveniently equipped with a flag.
4. Topman Ripped Vintage Skinny Jeans – £40
Not a fan of shorts? Topman’s vintage skinny is a great alternative that gives a fitted silhouette with a bit of room so as to not be too tight or too baggy.
5. Quiet Life Splash Short Sleeve Shirt – £100
Playful colours and bright in your face prints are always great for carnival.
6. Kesh x American Apparel Unisex Cap – £40
Worn to the back for that carnival cool. Again, the print is great for the street party festivity.
7. Black Leather Bum Bag – £16
Across your chest, around your waist or on your shoulder, this was a festival essential this year thanks to its convenience. You don’t want to wind up with a missing phone or keys but you don’t want to carry around a big bag so the bumbag is your best bet.
