“MONOCHROME IS A CONCEPT DRIVEN FASHION LABEL INTEGRATING VISUAL ARTS WITH FASHION DESIGN.”
Dim light, a projected scenic wall, and a singular rail of clothing placed from the front of the room to it’s rear; The Monochrome SS14 Launch Event is atmospheric to say the least! With pulsing music and refreshments at the ready, it is however the clothes that still take center-stage.
The tailoring and attention to artistic detail precedes the mere two years since duo Anya Kamarek and Piotr Hektor Kowalski established Monochrome. A quick scan of the rail reveals a minimal yet luxurious line booming with versatile yet practical pieces it would seem that this is a line of beautiful oxymorons. From capes with deliberate hood draping to coated denim pieces and mesh t-shirts; complimented with a variance of hand-picked fabrics.
With a colour palette that, as the name suggests, is neutrally monochrome consisting of gentle greys and staple blacks and white. Pieces tend to be one colour giving a more solid silhouette to each item of clothing. The designers each wore the collection from head-to-toe showcasing the versatility and unisex nature of the line.
Classic yet androgynous, geometric and imaginative Monochrome aims to be practical yet imaginatively creative and it truly succeeds.
Monochrome Pop-Up Store is open at Boxpark, Shoreditch till 31st December, and available to purchase on their Online Store.
