The only one of its kind.
Continuing the work he is doing in his native city, Virgil Abloh is opening a Re-Creation center in Chicago.
In partnership with Nike, the center will be open over the summer and offer panel talks, giveback programs, workshops and exclusive releases for local fans to enjoy. These will be organised through the SNKRS app where you will be able to sign up for workshops. Solidifying it’s commitment to sustainability, Nike will also run a “Reuse-a-Shoe” incentive where people can bring in old shoes to be turned into the American labels recycled textile Nike Grind. This will then be used to create facilities, such as an Abloh designed basketball court which will open in Chicago in time for the NBA All-Star 2020.
This program is yet another endeavour for the American designer and DJ who’s an exhibition at the MCA Chicago, titled “figures of speech” is set to open June 10.
Check out the one of a kind facility below and be sure to visit if you are in the area.
