LV Switch it Up.
Formed by the late great Virgil Abloh, Louis Vuitton’s latest lends itself to the great outdoors as the newest Pre-Spring 2023 ‘Snow’ capsule heads into ski-inspired territory.
In a mission statement made by Virgil Abloh before his passing, the former Artistic Director for menswear stated the following:
“We live in a time of increasing awareness – of both ourselves and our surroundings – where businessmen from Paris become weekend warriors in Gstaad, and everyone is testing their own limits. […] We expect design to perform, to multi-function, to serve a purpose beyond the obvious.”
With Louis Vuitton’s latest, Virgil does exactly that. The Pre-Spring 2023 capsule collection serves its multifunctional purpose through a host of winter-inspired garments, including various pieces of knitwear, nylon skiing garments, outerwear, tracksuits, snoods and more. Tapping into a mixture of retro and futuristic stylings, some standout pieces from the released campaign imagery include a black padded monogram Louis Vuitton coat with stitched detailing, a black and blue tracksuit with side-stripe branding, in addition to a black and white checkerboard snood with hits of the Louis Vuitton emblem. Whilst being imagined and brought to life by Louis Vuitton’s creative team, this is firmly a creation of the late Virgil Abloh.
