It’s a toss-up between Rihanna’s baby bump and Louis Vuitton’s beloved Speedy bag for the role of main character in Pharrell’s debut campaign as the newly-appointed Creative Director ignites his vision for the Maison by unifying two everyday icons – a luxury bag and an artist of universal appeal.
Photographed by Keizõ Kitajima and Martine Syms with styling from long-time collaborators Cynthia Lu and Mathew Henson, the campaign employs thought-provoking imagery to not only showcase its latest collection but also offer a glimpse into Pharrell’s inspirations and stylistic direction for the Maison.
Reimagining the iconic Speedy, one of Williams’ first bags, through his own experiences with the cosmopolitan and his early education in luxury on Canal Street of New York City’s Lower Manhattan, the bag’s new iteration is a true everyday icon designed to suit every walk of life.
Both fashionable and functional in equal measures with wearability and adaptability at its core, the new Speedy maintains its original trapezoid lines while screen-printed Monogram offers an artisanal feel across nine dimensions in numerous colourways.
