Big & Bold.
Comme des Garçons is no stranger to eccentric footwear, just look at their work with Nike, Converse, and even their own Homme line. This season, the brand has partnered with Salomon to give their SR811 platform a bit of fauvist treatment.
First debuting during the CDG womenswear show last summer, media publications and fashion fans from all over found difficulty identifying the shoe. Propped up by its colourful geometric patterns spanning the entirety of the colour wheel, the SR811 features a chunky, elevated sole and contrasting width between upper and lower. Coming through with some branded features, Salomon utilise a camouflaged logo on the heel, although it’s quite difficult to spot in pictures. Clear lace locks allow the triangular pattern to pop a bit more, and the choice of white laces adds a hint of normality to this otherwise grandiose pair of sneakers.
The Comme des Garçons x Salomon SR811s are available on Dover Street Market’s website right now, costing over $1,000 USD per pair.
