A New Beginning.
A rich history precedes the sleek Goldwin we see today, with the Japanese-born brand having consistently bridged the gap between human and nature for more than 70 years, unifying minimalist urban design with technical alpine performance. Championing innovation through the natural world, high quality, and a distinct attention to detail, Goldwin’s affection for what it does is apparent, having seen its once regional outfit hit international markets. From affiliations with the Swedish and British national ski teams to traversing the high performance skiwear, lifestyle apparel, activewear and outdoor apparel markets, Tosaku Nishida’s Goldwin have a simple, but effective design philosophy, emphasising the importance of harmony and an uncompromising attention to the finer details.
Striving forward into FW24, Goldwin has unveiled its new high-tech “3D Box Baffle” construction, taking the traditional idea of baffles – which are internal compartments within a jacket that stop the movement and clumping of down feathers and ensure even insulation – and elevating it. Goldwin’s own independently developed box-shaped “3D Box Baffle” strays away from the rigidity of heritage down jacket designs, tackling the issues of tucks and pleats creating compression of the down near the stitching and cold air flow by championing freedom of movement, mainly through the independent stitching of each baffle.
Unlike their competitors, Goldwin utilises a specialised sewing technique that forms the baffles three-dimensionally, helping maintain warmth whilst also reducing the weight of the jacket, contributing to an overall lightness as well as minimising environmental impact. Staying close to the body, Goldwin’s “3D Box Baffle” stays lofty when worn and expertly reduces cold spots, being put to use across various down jackets this season, ranging from lifestyle parkas and jackets to snow-ready ski wear.
