Effective April 28.

The British Fashion Council, or BFC, has named a new chief executive officer. Laura Weir succeeds Caroline Rush CBE, who has held the title for the last 15 years.

Weir is currently the creative director at Selfridges, and has previously held writing and editing roles at prestigious fashion magazines like Drapers and British Vogue. In 2015, she was also named the editor in chief of ES, London Evening Standard’s weekly fashion magazine.

“I am honoured to lead the BFC’s next chapter at an exciting and pivotal time for the British fashion industry. I look forward to working with the BFC team to champion culture and creativity to catalyse growth for British fashion, both domestically and globally,” said Laura Weir.

Rush is set to conclude her role at the end of the financial year, which is June 2025, with Weir taking over just days before.
