Straight To The Tram.
adidas Originals has teamed up with Manchester-based, cult-followed streetwear brand DramaCall to add some Northern flair to the iconic Superstar II.
With Mancunian roots, the Superstar II has been elevated with iconography found on the city’s local trams, including the bold turquoise used on the three stripes logo. Three-star iconography is seen on the silver hang tag, and boasted throughout on the soles, and on the silhouette’s iconic rubber toe. Drama is spelt out on a parallel line following the three stripes in all white, complimenting the shoe’s dark blue characteristics.
“We wanted to do our city justice and pay homage to the place that has grown and sculpted us, so we placed the map of Manchester on the under sole of the shoe, allowing your feet to always be rooted in the city. We decided to completely re-create the shoe box to look like the old tram we would get on as kids growing up in Manchester, representing a simpler and easier time. The graffiti artwork on the side of the shoe was done by a close friend of mine who I grew up skating with, to really bring it round full circle,” says Charlie Bows, Founder of DramaCall.
The adidas and DramaCall collaborative Superstar II is available now at select retailers. Check out the campaign imagery below.
