A tale of timeless textures reimagined through Disney’s newest collaboration with Indian brand KGL offers tailored suits to sweatshirts.
The expansive 114-piece collection bridges fantasy with fashion in a story of India’s rich visual culture. Titled ‘A dream that dreamed itself’, the surrealist collaboration uses upcycled denim and hand embroidery to paint the story.
Aimed at a diverse audience with big imaginations, KGL (Kanika Goyal Label) has utilised its craftsmanship talents to tap into the playful and youthful brand energy it shares with Disney. There is an overlap of classical tailoring infused with the informal layer of both brands’ DNA, whereby the construction of clothing can be either or. This collaboration elevates the imagination of customers and opens the door to a new dimension of storytelling through fashion.
The collection sells crew neck jumpers, graphic t-shirts and accessories. The Indian motifs. paisleys and temple gates represent the deep culture within KGL’s innovative designs, spotted on products within the collection. Resonating with a universal sphere of shoppers, KGL uses humour as one of its key communicative tools, and Disney very much aligns with the practice. ‘ADTDI’ is timeless and transformative in taking the customer’s vision of the pieces into a new world of creativity in dress.
The collaboration’s elevated approach to styling has taken the pieces to a new level of surrealism within the designs. Bold patterns, loud colours and oversized shoulder pad blazers and animal print accessories are some of the key techniques in design that stand out within the nostalgic collection.
