Denim Tears Launches ‘5th Quarter’ Collection Honouring Basketball’s Cultural Legacy

By June 26, 2025FASHION NEWS

A poignant tribute to Black identity, athleticism, and the stories that begin after the final buzzer.

Denim Tears unveils 5th Quarter, a powerful new collection that explores basketball’s deep-rooted emotional and cultural ties to Black America. Centring on what comes after the game, whether you go pro or not, the collection reflects on sport as both an opportunity and a mirror to systemic realities.

Drawing inspiration from legendary figures like Rafer “Skip 2 My Lou” Alston and the late John Thompson Jr., 5th Quarter pays homage to icons who shaped culture beyond the court. Signature Denim Tears pieces, including shorts, sweatpants, and hoodies, are reworked with African Mud-cloth motifs, while athletic-inspired nylon pullovers and accessories like a net necklace and commemorative basketballs round out the drop.

Graphic tees honour unsung heroes of the game, with standouts like the Skip to My Lou tee. The collection debuts at the 5th Quarter pop-up at Dover Street Market Paris on the 28th–29th June.
