Gucci brought the sixties style of London to the runway where Frida Giannini’s Fantasies of the mod were sprung back to life.
However, todays modern interpretation of the mod was embodied with the style of turtle necks and drainpipes paired with shrunken peacoats which were modeled by skinny men, a bold statement for fashion, and a brave step for Gucci. These outfits were then topped off with fisherman styled caps, almost like those that the Beatles once wore during the mod era, the 1960’s.
Giannini added a twist to the monochrome style by adding a pallet of creamy pastels which worked exceptionally well when creating a modern perception of the mod.
The use of leather in the collection most certainly brought a new energy to the collection, reinforcing the rebellious attitude and image that once came with being a mod’s enemy, the punks.
