Drifters London Spring/Summer 2017 Collection

By June 15, 2016Fashion News

A collection inspired by forgotten lands.

P1
With so much land in the world, but not so much in busy cities. Latifah Usman founder & designer of Drifters LDN looked outside London into Kolmanskop in Namibia, a land of many which has been forgotten and overtaken by sand. Thinking out the box, Latifah explores the forgotten land as a driven force into designing her new Spring/Summer 2017 collection for Drifters LDN.

The SS17 collection highlights that although there are many lands in the world that may have been discarded and left behind, they will never truly die, even when abandoned there is always life after. Latifah illustrates this through the designs with a mixture of explosive pastel colours drawn on from different elements of abandoned places around the world. The assistance of layered pieces and prints guide the eye and the mind through the idea of lands and people that have been lost over time.

With padded knees, shoulders and panels add to the workman aesthetic long with the slim slightly boxy shapes and flapped pocket detailing. The paneling on some of the pieces illustrates the architectural journey and how broken down things become, seeking to build on the depth of the concept and collection.

“Lost in time but never forgotten”
