Dirk Bikkembergs rebooted in the new 2017/18 collection.
The Dirk Bikkemberg man is a confident, grown-up gentleman- equally at ease in boasting sartorial discipline or a wild, almost tribal side as well as hints of fragility. Creative director Lee Wood reworks Dirk Bikkembergs codes as he skews nostalgia while also maintaining authenticity.
Silhouettes appear bold, emphasised by sharp cuts of militaristic precision that give a Dirk Bikkembergs imprint to staples and classics. Quilted panels offer protection on crombies and parkas equipped for survival. Outsized pockets suggest a functional and visual sign. Tailored jackets and trousers obtain volume and definition, while knits are thick, textural and tactile. The inside out effects soften the overall strictness with unruly touches which continue in the wild wool fringes and decomposed patterns charged with a sauvage feel. A masculine vibe is enforced by whiffs of heavy duty workwear and camo textures, along with rhythmic stripes.
Herringbone and worsted wools, cashmere, technical nylon and enzyme treated cotton are a few of the fabrics which are reassuring, in a classic colour palette of camel, black, white and navy blue.
