PAUSE Eats: UKAI

By August 21, 2018Lifestyle, Restaurant

Japanese food and cocktails? Why not?

Based in Notting Hill, UKAI’s Head Chef has a background at top spots Roka and Nobu so it was pretty much a done deal the food would be well-presented with interesting flavours.

Highlights include the white tuna tataki with truffle and the lobster tempura. Between two, 6 dishes were ordered. As food is served quickly, it’s not an issue to take another look at the menu and order more. This makes it great food both a few light bites or if you prefer to have something more filling.

When it comes to drinks, complementing their expansive offering, they have a signature UKAI spritz; Aperol with melon infused gin and homemade grapefruit soda – delicious.

Partially thanks to the preservation of its 19th-century façade, the decor initially has the feel of a cosy English pub. The interiors are slick wood with an Eastern-inspired design. You can also simply enjoy drinks at their bar.
